Dr. John L. Burns, Optometrist
Dr. Burns graduated from Widener University with a B.S. in Biology in 1986. He then went on to graduate the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1989. He joined Eye Design in August of 1997.
Dr. Burns is a member of the Maryland and American Optometric Association. He was elected President of the Maryland Optometric Association in 2012. Dr. Burns was voted "Optometrist of the Year” by the Maryland Optometric Association in 2013. He was selected the recipient TLC laser eye centers “Dennis Kennedy Excellence in Eye Care” award for 2005! Dr. Burns also is the recipient of the 2018 Melvin Waxman Award for recognition of his dedication and loyal service to his profession and to the Maryland Optometric Association.
Eye Design received the 2005 Practice of the year from Dr. Gary Gerber's Power Practice, a practice management firm helping optometrists develop their practices.
Dr. Burns is a preceptor practice for Salus University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he has worked with interns for over a decade.
Dr. Burns and his wife Sandy have three children and in his spare time he enjoys running and playing golf.
